Why nobody is with Her:

Playing To Win

Don't play their game:
One of the great things about Donald Trump is that, to the extent he knew the alleged rules of politics that were in effect before him, he didn’t care. He doesn’t feel compelled to be bound to norms; his only purpose is binding Republicans. He was preceded by other legends who showed us the way, including Andrew Breitbart and Rush Limbaugh. But remember that Donald Trump is really the avatar of a movement of patriotic Americans who are tired of being abused, who are tired of leadership that is weak and feckless in the face of people who hate us, and who are completely done with the idea of gentlemanly decline. The bare minimum for Republicans is to not help the Democrats and the regime media, to the extent those two groups differ, defeat us. We will no longer play our assigned roles in the old kabuki dance that always ends up with Republicans shafted and Democrats skating on accountability. Hey, Dems, I’ll see your Signal chat and raise you 13 dead Americans in Afghanistan and no one getting fired. They don’t get to win. Give them nothing except mockery and contempt.
Let them get what they deserve, not what they want...

Map Mocker

You're too dumb, he said:
Coons was trying to highlight his party's issue with the Trump administration looking to get involved with Greenland for the sake of national security. As Townhall covered all last week, Vice President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance traveled to Greenland, where they met with American Guardians at a U.S. Space Force base on the island. The Democratic senator claims he wants to see the administration focus on other issues, arguing that perhaps Americans are hoping for that as well. He couldn't just say that, though. He had to insult these Americans in the process as well. In remarks that the Rapid Response 47 X account aptly noted amounted to Democrats "SHOWING THEIR TRUE COLORS," Coons offered that "your average Middle American" couldn't even find Greenland on a map, implying that they were too stupid. "Look, your average Trump voters laughs at us and says 'he's owning the libs,' and your average Middle American says 'why are you wasting your time on Greenland? I can't even find it on a map!'"
And you can't find your brains...

Atomic Age II

The atomic age returns:
In a wide-ranging interview last week, Energy Secretary Chris Wright discussed how the U.S. can bring nuclear power to the fore for both energy and defense purposes, starting with rebooting otherwise dormant "pit" production. Under the first Trump administration, the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) sought to meet the Pentagon’s goal of manufacturing 80 such pits – spherical hulls of plutonium sized from a grapefruit to a bowling ball – according to the UK Guardian. Wright suggested he wants to see the plan realized, as the same Energy Department laboratory in New Mexico where J. Robert Oppenheimer helped develop the atom bomb is reportedly working to return to earnest pit production. The U.S. has never imported plutonium pits but also hasn’t done any such major manufacturing since the end of the Cold War.

Lion Lies

Wokeness comes for Narnia:
According to Nexus Point News, Meryl Streep is in talks to play... not Jadis the White Witch, not Mrs. Macready... but the Lion, Aslan. In Lewis's story, Aslan is an allegory for Jesus Christ. He is the creator of Narnia, and its savior after sacrificing himself to break the White Witch's hold on it. Streep is a celebrated actress who once called Harvey Weinstein "god." These two characters are polar opposites of one another, both in terms of gender and who they are as personalities, and if these rumors are true, then perhaps that's the point. This was not supposed to be a celebration of Lewis's work, but a deconstruction that strips it everything that made it special, including the story's Christian foundations.

RIP Liberalism

Europe ditches democracy:
Think South Korea or Taiwan, or for that matter the UK as parliamentary democracy developed. The classic case is Rome, which went from kings to a Senate with roughly divided powers in the Consuls and Tribunes. The freer systems prosper, with a good working balance between order and freedom. Innovation, expansion, and cultural supremacy develop. Then, the ruling elite becomes greedy, demanding more and more power and resources. In Rome, the system became tired and trended toward political suppression, eventually resulting in authoritarian rule. That path is being followed in the West. The ruling elite has turned on the people, and this is the result. To retain their grip on power, they return to authoritarianism. They are killing what made the West great. Look at how the elite is rushing to destroy Elon Musk, the Edison and Tesla of our time. As he struggles to make humanity interplanetary, they struggle to rein him in and destroy him.
The West is no longer the best...

Money Shift

One good scam deserves another:
New York is facing yet another lawsuit alleging it rigged the bidding process for Gov. Kathy Hochul’s move to overhaul a massive $9 billion homecare program. The new filing alleges that powerful healthcare union 1199SEIU was in on the fix to help controversial firm Public Partnerships LLC secure the multi-million dollar contract to handle payment services for the rapidly expanding Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program. At least five lawsuits have so far been filed to try and unravel Hochul’s overhaul of the CDPAP, two of which have specifically alleging bid-rigging on the part of the governor’s administration. Hochul and the state legislature, as part of the gov’s revamp of the allegedly fraud-ridden program, agreed to get rid of nearly 700 middlemen firms that acted as payroll agents between CDPAP caregivers and Medicaid in favor of one hand-picked contractor. Critics, including the existing middlemen firms like Mark’s Homecare LLC — which filed the latest suit in Albany Supreme Court — have been crying foul about the process leading up Public Partnerships LLC being awarded the bid.

Fish And Games

The UK wants to starve the people to feed its green fever:
The Land Use Framework, which states that 9% of England’s farmland will need to be taken out of production for climate goals, is "flying under the radar" for many farmers. This is according to Laura Greenman, partner at HCR Law, who is urging farming businesses to have their say on the plans as the industry is "once again under threat". The Land Use Framework, which was launched for consultation at the end of January, seeks a new strategic approach to managing land use in England. As part of it, the government is looking at new ways to deliver housebuilding, nature goals, energy infrastructure and entire new towns. The framework states that 9% of England’s agricultural land will need to be taken out of production to meet environmental and climate targets. .... ...Ms Greenman says that while it focuses on planning, energy and infrastructure, she warns that little consideration has been given to food security. ...“The framework claims to support Britain's food security while suggesting that 760,000ha of agricultural land in England must be removed from production,” says Ms Greenman.

Generation Groan

Parents want to cut off their kids:
Key findings from the report: Half of parents with adult children provide regular financial assistance to their grown offspring. The average support per adult child is $1,474 monthly, about 6% higher than last year. 83% of supporting parents contribute to their adult kids’ monthly groceries; 65% help with cell phones, and nearly half (46%) pay for vacations. More than three-quarters (77%) of supportive parents attach conditions to their financial assistance. 23% give money without any conditions. Nearly 50 percent of parents have sacrificed their financial security to help their grown kids financially, and most supporting parents feel obligated to help their kids with money. Working parents who support grown kids contribute over 2X more money each month to their adult children than they do to retirement funds. .... Parents continue to accept financial stress and make personal sacrifices to support their adult children's economic well-being. However, even as we see more parents providing financial assistance than in any previous year of our research, we've also detected some emerging cracks in this foundation of support. The percentage of parents who feel financially responsible for supporting their adult children has declined, while more are establishing specific conditions for continued assistance. Perhaps most notably, almost 40 percent of parents plan to end their financial support within the next two years.
Time for them to finally pay their own way...

Farming Follies

The USDA spent money studying gay farmers for some reason:
The research relies on conducting interviews – in one case for $373 per Zoom call – to explore a researcher's hypothesis of widespread discrimination. For instance, one taxpayer-funded research grant studied “queer farmers quality of life in Pennsylvania,” federal records show, one of several grants of its kind. The Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Projects – a federally funded research arm of the U.S. Department of Agriculture – paid $14,997 for the 2018 grant. While this grant is relatively small, there are others, and critics argue the spending is a distraction from helping farmers and lowering food prices, which soared during the Biden administration alongside this kind of research funding. The aforementioned 2018 queer farmers grant went to Pennsylvania State University for a project titled: “Sexuality and Sustainable Agriculture: Examining Queer Farmers' Quality of Life in Pennsylvania.” The grant proposal says the topic is “woefully understudied.” “The deeply entrenched assumption of heteronormativity in farming has excluded queer farmers from full inclusion and benefits from agriculture, even within sustainable agriculture,” the grant’s proposal abstract said.

California Crash

How California's economy failed normal people:

Blue Eyes Closed

They still don't get it:
In the aftermath of this comprehensive defeat, many party leaders have decided that they do not need to make significant changes to their policies or their message. They have instead settled on a convenient explanation for their plight. That explanation starts with the notion that Democrats were merely the unlucky victims of postpandemic inflation and that their party is more popular than it seems: If Democrats could only communicate better, particularly on social media and podcasts, the party would be fine. “We’ve got the right message,” Ken Martin, the new chairman of the Democratic National Committee, said while campaigning for the job. “What we need to do is connect it back with the voters.” .... Even today, the party remains too focused on personal identity and on Americans’ differences — by race, gender, sexuality and religion — rather than our shared values. On these issues, progressives sometimes adopt a scolding, censorious posture. It is worth emphasizing that this posture has alienated growing numbers of Asian, Black and Latino voters.
When you alienate everyone, you have no one left...

Peace Plans

They didn't do their job:
According to the liberal Washington Post, the Trump administration offered generous severance packages and an extra month of health insurance in exchange for workers signing agreements not to sue the government. The agreements are likely intended to avert additional lawsuits by bureaucrats attempting to force taxpayers to continue funding their salaries. What the U.S. Institute of Peace actually does was relatively unknown until it became a target of Trump’s downsizing efforts two weeks ago. Created by Congress in 1984, the self-described “nonpartisan” organization claimed via its Facebook page that it is “dedicated to protecting U.S. interests by helping to prevent violent conflicts and broker peace deals abroad.” It is unclear how USIP’s work differs from that of the already enormous Department of State and its global bureaucracy.

SNAP Decision

No soda for you:
West Virginia will ask the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) for a waiver that enables the state to prohibit using food stamps to buy soda, West Virginia Gov. Patrick Morrisey announced on March 28. “Taxpayer dollars should be targeted toward nutritious foods,” Morrisey, a Republican, said during a news conference with U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. He noted that the formal name of the food stamp program is the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). At the end of the event, Morrisey signed a letter of intent to request waivers for changes to the SNAP program in West Virginia, the governor’s office stated. Kennedy told those assembled that the governor had recounted to him what unfolded during a recent meeting with soda companies. “He came in with his Diet Coke, and he said, ‘Is there anything nutritious in here?’” Kennedy said. “And they were like, ‘No, of course not, but food stamps is not a nutrition program.’” “[SNAP] is supposed to be nutrition,” Kennedy said. “It’s not supposed to be food-like substances that are actually poisoning us ... but it takes a lot of courage to stand up to these companies the same way that it did to stand up to Big Tobacco.” The American Beverage Association, which represents drink manufacturers, said in a statement, “SNAP restrictions won’t make anyone healthier or save taxpayer dollars.” U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins has indicated that she supports letting states implement a ban on the use of food stamps for soda. “I look forward to receiving Governor Morrisey’s SNAP pilot request and will work swiftly to make certain West Virginia is equipped with the technical assistance and expertise to move forward,” Rollins said in a statement. In fiscal year 2023, SNAP served an average of 42 million Americans per month, or 12 percent of the U.S. population, according to the USDA.

Flying Low

No more TSA for him:
In a statement to Fox News Digital, Lee explained: "The TSA has not only intruded into the privacy and personal space of most Americans, it has also repeatedly failed tests to find weapons and explosives. Our bill privatizes security functions at American airports under the eye of an Office of Aviation Security Oversight, bringing this bureaucratic behemoth to a welcome end. American families can travel safely without feeling the hands of an army of federal employees. The proposed measure would officially abolish the TSA three years after it is enacted into law and also would require the Departments of Homeland Security and Transportation to create and submit a reorganization plan to Congress." Tuberville echoed the frustrations expressed by Lee, calling the TSA “a bloated agency—riddled with waste, fraud, and abuse of taxpayer dollars—that has led to unnecessary delays, invasive pat downs and bag checks, and frustration for travelers.” Instead of allowing continued infringement on on Americans’ freedoms, Tuberville said, “We need to focus on more efficient and effective methods to protect our country without sacrificing the liberties and freedoms of American citizens.”

Toy Time

Toys are no longer just for kids:
According to data from analytics firm Circana, In 2024, adults accounted for 28 percent of global toy sales, marking a 2.5 percent increase since 2022. A 2023 Circana report found that in the 12 months ending June 2024, US adults spent over $7 billion on toy purchases. In Europe, toy sales for children dropped by $217 million between 2019 and 2022, while sales for adults grew by about $1.1 billion. Similar trends have been observed in Mexico, Brazil, and South Africa, while market research firm IMARC projects that China’s “kidult” market will grow by 9.3 percent annually through 2032. A New York Post report highlighted Bob Friedland, a toy collector from Little Falls, New Jersey. Friedland’s house is filled with Legos, including a reproduction of Van Gogh’s Starry Night hung on the wall and 10 Lego city skyline sets representing places he has visited. “I had to move out of my condo and into a house to find a place to put them all,” the 50-year-old told the New York Post. Friedland, who has worked as a toy marketer, began collecting Legos seriously in 2020, a trend many adults embraced during the COVID-19 pandemic. “They’re a stress reliever,” Friedland said. “They don’t fall apart, you can put them on a shelf and look at them and they give you fun, good memories.” Michelle Steinberg, owner of public relations firm The deFIANT, which represents toymakers, said model kits, clay sculpting, trading cards, miniatures, and Legos are among the most popular choices for adult toy owners. “It’s about nostalgia, it’s about self-expression and it’s about social connection,” Steinberg explained, per the Post.

Supreme Reaction

The NY Times is worried about religious freedom for some reason:
"It has been almost three years since the Supreme Court last heard arguments in a case that turned on one of the religion clauses of the First Amendment," NYT's Adam Liptak wrote on Sunday, "a curious lull in what had been a signature project for the court led by Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr.: to bolster the place of faith in public life." "The hiatus is over," Liptak noted, and according to Yale Law's Justin Driver, quoted in the story, "This spring’s trio of religion cases threatens nothing less than to raze foundational structures of American law and life." “The Supreme Court this term could quite plausibly destroy the American public school as we have known it for the last several decades," he added. Scary stuff, kids. Liptak looked at three religious liberty cases set to be argued before the Supreme Court in the coming weeks. "The first one, to be argued Monday, asks whether a Catholic charity in Wisconsin should receive a tax exemption. In April, the court will consider whether a Catholic charter school in Oklahoma is constitutional and whether parents with religious objections to the curriculum in Maryland schools may withdraw their children from classes." "Taken together," Liptak wrote, "the three cases will test the limits of the court’s assertive vision of religious liberty, which has been one of its distinctive commitments for more than a decade." "An assertive vision of religious liberty" is a curious phrase to use for a nation established to protect liberty, particularly religious liberty, by the descendants of people who fled Britain in search of religious liberty. "It's right there on the label," you might say.
Look for the liberty label...

Kid Talk

Your kid is transphobic, or something:
The child, aged 3 or 4, was kicked out of an unnamed school nursery "for being transphobic," the Telegraph reported Monday. The name of the school and details of the case were not disclosed by the Department for Education (DfE) of the United Kingdom, the report said. A DfE spokesman told the newspaper that "all pupils and staff should feel safe and protected at school and should never face violence or abuse." Statistics revealed that 94 students at state primary schools were suspended or permanently excluded for transphobia and homophobia in 2022-23. That figure includes 10 students from year one and three from year two, where the maximum age is seven, the report states. "Every once in a while, the extremes of gender ideology throw up a story that seems too crazy to believe, and a toddler being suspended from nursery for so-called transphobia or homophobia is one such example," Helen Joyce, director of advocacy at Sex Matters, told the newspaper.

During the weekend-long event, those who bought $1,500 VIP tickets to the well-known electronic-dance festival were offered an alcoholic bottle menu which included bottle service packages. One service, specifically called "F--- you money," garnered viral social media attention with a price point of $425,000 and included 200 bottles of Pharrell Williams edition Moët & Chandon Nectar Imperial Rosé, 100 bottles of Dom Pérignon Brut Luminous and 100 bottles of Dom Pérignon Rosé Luminous. Other bottle services with names like "Just what the doctor ordered," "We’re all mad here," "Get hooked," and "Happy birthday Mr. President," had a price range from $7,500 to $305,000, according to multiple photos of the menu. However, on the last day of the festival, the menu seemingly changed. The "F--- you money" service was renamed, "Executive decision… we lowered our pricing," with a tag of $424,999.99.

Family Snide

Families are racist, or something:
The SPLC—which trades on its history of suing KKK groups into bankruptcy to smear conservative and Christian nonprofits by putting them on a “hate map” with Klan chapters—trained its sights on the Pan-African Conference on Family Values, which will take place in Nairobi, Kenya, in May. The SPLC claimed that “international efforts of hate and extremist groups developed an international playbook built on ‘natural family’ rhetoric.” “Cobbled together from white supremacist, anti-immigrant and anti-LGBTQ+ tropes that link fears of declining Christian cultural supremacy with a falling birth rate, ‘natural family’ rhetoric advances Western white social norms and imposes a so-called ‘natural order’ on African countries,” the SPLC’s Emerson Hodges wrote.

Money For Everything

Elon Musk wants to know where their money came from:
Rank-and-file members of Congress make $174,000 annually. Last year, Musk — whose net worth is pegged at $330 billion by Bloomberg — helped kill legislation to raise congressional pay, then later supported an increase as a means of fighting corruption. Scores of lawmakers who have spent decades in Congress are millionaires. Two of the wealthiest include former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), who has a net worth of about $250 million, and Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.), whose personal fortune hovers around $552 million. Pelosi’s wealth largely comes from her and her venture capitalist husband Paul’s lucrative investments in companies like Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Google and Netflix.

Rent A Loser

Joe Rogan wants to know who's paying them:

Method Madness

The madness is the message:
Let’s be clear: it’s not hard to fix the Democratic Party’s problems. They know exactly what’s broken. They just don’t want to fix it. Instead of offering ideas, vision, and solutions, they’ve tripled down on their Trump Derangement Syndrome. A recent DNC event—meant to be a serious discussion of strategy and policy—turned into a carnival of anti-Trump hysteria. That’s not a platform. That’s a group therapy session. Want to fix your party? It’s simple: adopt some common sense. Start with the economy. Recognize what works: low taxes and minimal regulations. It’s not rocket science. When you stop punishing businesses with red tape and confiscatory tax rates, they grow. When they grow, they hire. When people are working, they earn, they spend, and they prosper. That’s called a “win-win-win,” something Washington used to understand before progressives made prosperity a dirty word. But today’s Democratic leadership doesn’t want prosperity—they want control. They want power over your thermostat, your gas stove, your car, your paycheck, and even your pronouns.
They went crazy, and want to take the rest of the country with them...

License To Tax

The licensing scam:
OLLs require individuals to obtain some set of credentials—a combination of education, training, and experience—to lawfully engage in various occupations, from braiding hair to performing surgery and arranging flowers to flying airplanes. Most Americans intuit that requiring florists or barbers to obtain formal credentials, which can run into hundreds of hours and tens of thousands of dollars, is overkill because nobody ever died from a bad haircut or ugly arrangement of flowers. Market forces like consumer reviews will induce bad barbers and florists to issue refunds, improve their skills, or find another occupation. Those who favor OLLs often claim that America licensed trivial occupations, including grocers and tavern keepers, throughout its history—even back into the colonial era. An extensive recent review of state licensing statutes passed before the U.S. Civil War, however, revealed that increasing government revenue, not quality assurance, motivated almost all such early licensing. “License” and “tax” were, in other words, almost synonymous. If governments could not stop “sins” like alcohol consumption, gambling, and prostitution, they could at least tax them!
Beware the sin of operating your own business...

Good Attitudes

The importance of showing gratitude:
The left has shown many signs of psychosis over the past decade. From guys insisting on dressing up as girls to their actively taking women’s sports trophies, from deranged people defacing or burning Teslas, we see mental problems on the left. But one additional issue is their absolute belief that they are owed something. When Donald Trump cuts down illegal alien and fentanyl entry into the US, you never hear a word of thanks from those on the left (with the exception, to his credit, of Bernie Sanders). When Elon Musk and the DOGE gang save a quarter trillion dollars of our tax money, you don’t hear Democrats saying how wonderful their successes are; if anything, you hear their demands that the pork, fraud, waste, and self-dealing be put right back where they found it. When foreigners who threaten and harass Jews on campus or citizens at home are given free one-way tickets back to Crapistan, they demand that the cretins be left in the US to create more havoc. Their mental illness is so advanced that if President Trump were to buy them a cup of coffee or paint their homes, they would refuse to say the magic words, “Thank you.” Gratitude is not just a social construct to make society run more smoothly. It is a realization that my life involves many others, and when one does good for me, I should show my appreciation, because in reality they don’t owe me a thing.
What goes around, comes around, good or bad...

Shadow People

The ones we should beware of:
Think about this for a moment. A shadow government -- the very notion of it infers a claim to legitimacy. What Tim Walz mentions would be a sort of stay-at-home government in exile, a government in opposition to the legitimate government chosen by the voters. In the nature of such things, it would be peopled by radicals, people willing to use civil unrest, people who are so convinced of their righteousness that any action is on the table - like the people attacking Tesla drivers, like the people who are rioting and seizing buildings on college campuses, like the people who burned buildings, attacked cops and destroyed small businesses in the 2020 "Summer of Love" riots. It would be only a matter of time before these people, convinced of the rightness of their cause, convinced by a near-religious righteousness, would begin to see themselves not as a shadow government, but as the legitimate government, despite all evidence to the contrary - like an election. That's when they take to the streets, in an actual act of insurrection. What happens then? Will the civil authorities in the largely Democrat-controlled major cities stand back as they did in the summer of 2020? Sooner or later, unless local officials and law enforcement do something to rein these troublemakers in, the citizenry will grow frustrated enough to start making other arrangements. What if some informal armed security groups start springing up along the lines of the Roman vigiles? You know, the informal watchmen in old Rome, from whom we derive the modern term “vigilante”? And where, I ask you, does that lead?
Who watches the watchers, indeed...

The Carville Complaint

James Carville's problem:
I know it's been a bit since Jimmy was relevant in getting anyone elected, but that doesn't mean that I think he should automatically be discarded and forgotten about. He was good for 15 minutes back in 1992, and we should relish and cherish that. Most people would think it was just over his famous quote, "It's the economy, stupid," but if you recall, he came up with the phrase after the bimbo eruption. It perfectly fit all the activity going on around Bill Clinton at the time. Yet now it seems that James is suffering a bit from "the Trump has me confused and scared" camp, which of course he would deny, but he wouldn't understand why he's denying it. Thankfully, somebody that Mr. Carville is familiar with was very public in his recent admission that Donald Trump had broken him in half and left him politically for dead.

Why DEI is dead:

Blue Truth

Why he likes Trump:
Black male voters in swing states said on NBC News Thursday that they stand by their decision to support President Donald Trump. “Meet The Press” interviewed Black men in swing states who cast their votes for Trump in the 2024 election. Despite saying they had some reservations about Trump’s methods as president, most reaffirmed their support for him. “I approve because he’s weeding out a lot of things that the other, I would say Biden and Kamala Harris, disrupted in the United States. It’s going to be a tough job for him in the Trump administration as a whole, but I’m just willing to wait and see what goes forth from now,” Marlon M., a 47-year-old Democrat from Pennsylvania, said. Thomas A., a 49-year-old Democrat from Georgia who voted for Biden in 2020 and switched to Trump in 2024, said he does not fully agree with one of Trump’s methods but still supports him.

Birthing Lessons

Such instruction shall include but shall 16 not be limited to a presentation of: (a) A high-definition ultrasound video, at least three (3) minutes in 18 duration, showing the development of the brain, heart, sex organs, and other vital organs in early fetal development; and (b) A high-quality, computer-generated rendering or animation showing the process of fertilization and every stage of human development inside the uterus, noting significant markers in cell growth and organ development for every week of pregnancy until birth. (2) The instruction required in subsection (1) of this section shall also be included in every class that discusses or provides instruction concerning human biology, discusses or provides instruction concerning contraception, or discusses or provides instruction concerning sexually transmitted diseases or sexually transmitted infections.

After School Economy

The world economy as a kid's special:
Basically, the global economy (and some of this may apply to the ongoing wars and attempts at peace) is living in an After School Special – though everyone seems to believe they are on the “good” side. The Problem with “An Eye for an Eye” In theory an “eye for an eye” makes some sense. You poke out my eye, I poke out your eye. We are all even. We move on. Maybe this is where the concept of “reciprocity” fits in? The problem is, in the real world, even at the After School Special level of preachiness, you can see how things can get out of control. No one can figure out who took the first eye, so it just keeps going on and on. Sound familiar to the tariff “negotiations” or rationalizations? Why did you slap me? Because you made fun of my girlfriend. Oh, but I said that because you mushed my brother’s ice cream into his face. And I’m sure there was a reason to mush the brother’s face in ice cream. And on and on and on. Okay, this sounds juvenile (and it is) but isn’t what we are witnessing on the global economic landscape (and possibly the geopolitical landscape) playing out at least something like this? My guess is that a lot of people are nodding their heads, comfortable in the knowledge that the other side is the “bad” team and they, the “good” team, are merely responding. While After School Specials typically lasted only an hour, many longer and even bigger budget films were made in the likeness of the After School Special. It just takes longer for the results to play out.
The people running things seem to need actual lessons...

Union Views

A real workers' union likes what it sees:
“We applaud the Trump administration for stepping up to end the free trade disaster that has devastated working class communities for decades. Ending the race to the bottom in the auto industry starts with fixing our broken trade deals, and the Trump administration has made history with today’s actions,” Fain added. “But ending the race to the bottom also means securing union rights for autoworkers everywhere with a strong National Labor Relations Board, a decent retirement with Social Security benefits protected, healthcare for all workers including through Medicare and Medicaid, and dignity on and off the job,” he continued. “The UAW and the working class in general couldn’t care less about party politics; working people expect leaders to work together to deliver results. The UAW has been clear: we will work with any politician, regardless of party, who is willing to reverse decades of working-class people going backwards in the most profitable times in our nation’s history,” Fain continued. “These tariffs are a major step in the right direction for autoworkers and blue-collar communities across the country, and it is now on the automakers, from the Big Three to Volkswagen and beyond, to bring back good union jobs to the U.S.”
Bring the jobs back home...

Round Three

It looks like Trump might be serious about a third term:
The 22nd Amendment, ratified in 1951, says “no person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice” — allowing for the potential loophole of Vance resigning in Trump’s favor. “I mean, I basically tell them we have a long way to go, you know, it’s very early in the administration. I’m focused on the current,” the president said. Trump explained he’s interested in serving as president until 2033 because “I like working.” “I’m not joking,” the billionaire developer and former reality TV star told Welker. “But I’m not — it is far too early to think about it.” Trump has repeatedly mentioned a third term, though initially the idea was perceived as a way to troll Democrats and to avoid the perception that he’s a term-limited lame duck, which would sap his influence as politicians court potential successors.
They do make it easy to be trolled...

Dog Tales

It's not a dog's world:
Unless we were at a dog park or in a big open field far away from playgrounds, I kept my dog on a leash. If people were passing us on the sidewalk, I'd make sure the leash slack was short enough to prevent my dog from jumping on the passing people. And that's kinda the whole point of the leash, isn't it? If your dog is leashed but you still let it reach me, your leash is as useless as your sense of consideration for others. If I noticed the size or assertiveness of my dog was frightening a small child, I would put the dog outside or in another room. I wouldn't give a dismissive, "It's okay, he's friendly," and expect that to placate the nerves of the terrified, bawling four-year-old staring down a menacing creature thrice his size. None of this used to be an issue. The dog owners of yore were responsible and courteous. They didn't need to be told not to let their dogs jump on total strangers. It was self-evident. Not to sound cliché, but maybe it's simply a "generational thing," and recent irresponsible dog-owning is simply another manifestation of an increasingly self-absorbed culture.

Orwellian Outrage

The Times channels its inner Orwell:
The Times’ Orwellian Matthew Purdy adds that Pete Hegseth’s efforts to rid the Pentagon of the divisive and racist effects of Critical Race Theory are reminiscent of the bureaucrat in “1984” who “gleefully bragged that ‘we’re destroying words — scores of them, hundreds of them, every day.’” Remember, this is coming from the group that has destroyed a generation of schoolchildren’s understanding of what pronouns are and how they work by forcing us all to pretend that they were a matter of each individual’s own choosing. This is coming from the group that professes to revere the man who said he dreamed of the day when people would be judged by the content of their character rather than the color of their skin; now, Hegseth’s efforts to do just that are “Orwellian.” .... Yes, the left owns Orwellian, because leftists today are so exquisitely Orwellian. It is they, with their felonious Trump, their fake insurrection, and their equally fake women, who are demanding that we affirm that two plus two equals five, just because the party says so. The New York Times, in trying to shore up the left’s sagging narrative, only reminds us yet again who are the real enemies of freedom, and, indeed, enemies of the people.
Will the real Orwellians please stand up...

Double Up, Double Down

They're not quitting:
“Democrats are deeply fractured, rudderless, and struggling to figure out at the most basic level what their message and strategy should be,” Holly Otterbein wrote in Politico Magazine. Otterbein interviewed more than 30 Democratic leaders and consultants for the piece. She continued, “Some longtime Democrats are worried, even enraged, that few of their leaders have reexamined their prior positions — let alone shown a willingness to consider a dramatic break with party norms or practice.” Regardless of what end of the ideological spectrum they're coming from, radicals do not "reexamine their prior positions" in preparation for changing them. Right now, it's Democratic Party radicals — socialists, greens, gender identity true believers, radical feminists, racialists, and other identity freakazoids — who are in control of the levers of power in the party and are in no hurry to let go.
They're going to keep digging that hole...

Blue Collar Blues

They're definitely out of touch:

Stupid Evil

They can be both:
Some Democrats are simply evil. As noted, such people do exist and always have. We don’t help the world by denying their existence and trying to find some “good” in them. On the transgender issue, for example, there are three kinds of people in the Democratic Party. There's the Democratic Party leadership, who I am convinced knows that a man cannot be a woman; Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi are not stupid. But they support transgenderism; they support the destruction of countless human lives purely for political motives. That is nothing but evil. Then there are Democrats who are just stupid. I hate using that word; it sounds ugly, but it’s simply the truth. People exist who actually believe a man can become a woman simply by saying he is. Stupid is the only word for that. Now, some Democrats are stupid AND evil. A mother who believes in transgenderism, who actually believes that her child is of the wrong sex and thus gives the child puberty blockers or a gender-change operation, is not just stupid; she's also evil for what she's doing to her child. So, you can be both stupid and evil. Not all stupid people are evil, but some of them are.
Evil is as evil does...

Government Diet

Time to lose a few dollars:
HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. explained the department will initially lay off approximately 10,000 employees with, according to Fox News, "a total downsizing [from] 82,000 to 62,000 full-time employees when combining this latest effort with early retirement and the results of the Fork in the Road, the deferred resignation offer of full pay and benefits until September." Kennedy added, "We aren't just reducing bureaucratic sprawl. We are realigning the organization with its core mission and our new priorities in reversing the chronic disease epidemic. This Department will do more — a lot more — at a lower cost to the taxpayer." The downsizing diet is projected to save nearly $1.8 billion annually.

Misinformation Review

The NY Times is still pushing false misinformation:
The Times story says that Trump and his team “are effectively institutionalizing disinformation.” The story continues: Audrey McCabe, an analyst at Common Cause, a nonpartisan government watchdog, said the administration had pursued a strategy of 'disinformation overload' that was overwhelming not only its opponents but also the judicial system. And then the Times goes on to say: False narratives that once percolated in the darker corners of the internet are now advanced by Mr. Trump and his appointees and amplified by a media echo chamber, muddying the political discourse and compounding a broader erosion of trust in institutions themselves. Talk about a lack of self-awareness or self-reflection, not to mention “effectively institutionalizing disinformation”??!!! And what does the Times not report in this story? Recall this headline from Hans Von Spakovsky and Stephanie Luiz of the Heritage Foundation, writing over here at Fox News back there in the stone age of 2021: Will New York Times, Washington Post return Pulitzer for misleading Russia collusion stories? This is not the first time the prize was awarded for misleading and discredited coverage This story decidedly unmentioned by the Times reports: In 2018, journalists from The New York Times and The Washington Post won a Pulitzer Prize in national reporting for their biased and inaccurate coverage of Russia’s alleged collaboration with the Trump campaign to interfere with the 2016 election, a claim we now know was a hoax. So when are they going to return the prize? ….In a series of 10 articles, Times reporters propagated a narrative detailing fictitious connections between the Kremlin and the Trump campaign, the president’s transition team, and the administration. The Mueller investigation as well as the Senate Intelligence Committee affirmed that there is no evidence that President Trump or his staff conspired with the Russian government to impact the 2016 election. Special Counsel John Durham is now indicting some of those who were involved in creating what amounted to a political hoax that dogged the Trump administration for years. Despite these findings, and the inaccuracies in the Times’ articles, the Pulitzer Prize board has not repealed the award. (Note that all principals are alive and perfectly capable of responding.) Safe to say, - were there a prize for this “institutionalizing of disinformation” (to use The Times own characterization) on the utterly phony Trump/Russia hoax-The Times would have won hands down.

Leave your DEI at home, mon amis:
The companies have been told to confirm their compliance in a separate questionnaire entitled "Certification Regarding Compliance With Applicable Federal Anti-Discrimination Law." Reuters has seen a copy of the questionnaire. The documents will raise concerns in European boardrooms that the Trump administration is widening its fight against DEI overseas, at a time President Donald Trump's actions on tariffs and security ties have upended trans-Atlantic relations. French business daily Les Echos, which first reported the existence of the letter late on Friday, said the missive had been sent out to firms by the U.S. embassy in Paris. "We inform you that Executive Order 14173, Ending Illegal Discrimination and Restoring Merit-based Opportunities, signed by President Trump, applies to all suppliers and service providers of the U.S. Government, regardless of their nationality and the country in which they operate," reads the letter, according to a copy that French newspaper Le Figaro published on its website. "We would be grateful if you could complete and sign the document in English within five days and return it to us by email. If you do not agree to sign this document, we would appreciate if you could provide detailed reasons, which we will forward to our legal services," the letter added, with reference to the certification seen by Reuters.

Non-Union Man

No government unions for him:
President Donald Trump signed an executive order Thursday evening abolishing union rights at more than two dozen federal agencies and offices, in a major expansion of the administration’s efforts to shrink the federal government. The White House cited national security concerns for terminating workers’ ability to bargain collectively, but the order applies at agencies with both direct and indirect links to national security. Those include the entirety of the Departments of Defense, Veterans Affairs, State and Justice, and parts of Homeland Security, Health and Human Services, Interior, Energy and Commerce, among others... Hours later, eight federal agencies sued a group of unions in federal court in Texas, asking a judge to declare the union contracts void under Trump’s executive order... Trump invoked his authority under the Civil Service Reform Act of 1978 to cancel the union contracts, taking a sweeping view of what constitutes national security. The administration also moved to end union rights for workers at the Treasury Department, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Federal Communications Commission and the National Science Foundation, among many other agencies.

The Queen speaks:
The former Democratic presidential candidate and former Secretary of State focused much of her ire on a recent Signal chat leak, which she deemed both careless and dangerous. Clinton expressed particular outrage over the Trump administration’s handling of classified information and federal record retention laws. She called the administration’s actions “dumb” and questioned its regard for national security. “It’s not the hypocrisy that bothers me; it’s the stupidity. We’re all shocked — shocked! — that President Trump and his team don’t actually care about protecting classified information or federal record retention laws,” Clinton wrote.

Church sill matters:
The survey found that 41% of adults “definitely” do not agree with the statement “Church is not relevant in today’s world.” Among practicing Christians, 79% “definitely disagree” with the statement, with 9% “somewhat disagree[ing],” suggesting the Bible is still a significant part of the lived American experience, correlating with an uptick in all generations finding faith. “Weekly church attendance has experienced a gradual decline over the past two decades, but recent Barna data tracking shows signs of hope. Attendance peaked at 48 percent of U.S. adults in 2009, declined to 27 percent by 2017 and stood at 28 percent by 2024,” the report noted. “However, preliminary data from 2025 suggests a potential uptick in weekly church attendance to approximately 32 percent,” it continued. “Since 2022, men have consistently shown higher weekly attendance rates than women, reversing a long-established pattern (30% of men vs. 27% of women attending weekly as of 2024). From 2000 to 2015, women attended church at higher rates than men, then from 2016 to 2021, men and women attended at about the same rate.”

Keeping His Word

President Trump is doing what he promised:
The democrats/liberals call the opposition to Trump a defense of democracy, while Republicans view it as a breakdown of law and order in response to a duly elected president carrying out his agenda. The Biden-aligned opposition sees DOGE as a tool for authoritarian control; Trump’s supporters view it as long-overdue government reform. Whether you agree with his policies or not, Trump is neither a coward nor a liar. He is doing exactly what he said he would. His electoral base demanded bold change—and he’s delivering. That’s not dictatorship. That’s keeping promises.
Meanwhile the Democrats don't have any of their own...

The Forever President

The long shot for a third term:
Constitutional scholars believe they have identified a loophole in the Constitution that would allow President Trump (or any President) to serve more than two terms. The revelation stems from a 1999 Minnesota Law Review paper by Professor Bruce Peabody. The move, which some dismiss as improbable, could be facilitated by a new interpretation of the 22nd Amendment. Academic circles, Congress, and staunch Trump supporters have discussed exploiting a potential loophole in the language of the amendment. The 22nd Amendment, ratified to prevent any individual from being elected as President more than twice, holds a phrase that experts argue does not restrict someone from returning to office if they were not re-elected President. Prof. Peabody posits that the restriction solely applies to elections, implying that a President can resume office through other means, such as assuming the presidency from the vice-presidential spot upon the elected President’s resignation. Trump would still need significant support to win any general election that puts this plan into action. While this scenario draws skepticism, it has historical precedence and discussion. Former Presidents Eisenhower and Reagan expressed similar views about the limitations of the 22nd Amendment. Legal challenges would be anticipated, but the likelihood of court intervention remains uncertain due to the current Supreme Court’s conservative composition.
He might stick around after all...

Green Drama Fail

Americans aren't listening to the propaganda:
When asked, “Is it more important to make America energy independent or fight climate change?” most respondents (57%) chose energy independence, while another 39% chose climate change, and 4% said they were not sure. When asked, “Which is more important, reducing greenhouse gas emissions to combat climate change, or keeping the price of cars low enough for families to afford them?” about half of respondents (50%) chose keeping car prices low, while 43% said reducing greenhouse gas emissions was more important. The remaining 7% said they were not sure. When asked, “Which is more important, reducing greenhouse gas emissions or reducing the cost and improving the reliability of electricity and gas for American families?” respondents again rejected the climate goals. A majority (59%) said reducing energy cost and improving reliability was more important, while about a third (35%) chose the climate option. The remainder (5%) said they were not sure.

Travel Talk

No more TSA:
"The TSA has not only intruded into the privacy and personal space of most Americans, it has also repeatedly failed tests to find weapons and explosives. Our bill privatizes security functions at American airports under the eye of an Office of Aviation Security Oversight, bringing this bureaucratic behemoth to a welcome end. American families can travel safely without feeling the hands of an army of federal employees," Lee told Fox News Digital in a statement. The measure would officially abolish the TSA three years after being enacted into law, which the senators believe would provide time for security needs to be privatized. The bill would also direct the Secretaries of Homeland Security and Transportation to make a reorganization plan and submit it to Congress. In his own statement, Tuberville said, "The TSA is an inefficient, bureaucratic mess that infringes on Americans' freedoms." "It’s a bloated agency—riddled with waste, fraud, and abuse of taxpayer dollars—that has led to unnecessary delays, invasive pat downs and bag checks, and frustration for travelers. We need to focus on more efficient and effective methods to protect our country without sacrificing the liberties and freedoms of American citizens. The TSA should be eliminated and replaced with privatized solutions that are more targeted, streamlined, and where appropriate accountable to limited government oversight," he added.

No conservative drinkers allowed:
A YETI spokesperson told Fox Business: “Starting with our first customized Rambler® Drinkware in 2015, we’ve used our best efforts to create and adhere to a policy that prevents customizing products aligned with any political affiliations or organizations in addition to content that could be considered obscene, vulgar, profane, discriminatory, defamatory, or hateful.” It is not clear how this policy has been applied and whether CBL was barred as political or hateful or other criteria. I am assuming that the word “conservative” triggered the response. Even assuming that this is evenly applied, how is “political” defined? Does this mean that the Democratic party or pro-choice groups also are stuck with cold coffee? There are plenty of “political” groups that buy YETIs that do not have “liberal” or “conservative” in their names. Many contribute to elections or engage in lobbying. A wide range of groups have “political affiliations or organizations.” These are generally not-for-profits engaged in free speech activities. Selling them a YETI cup is no more of an endorsement than their buying hats made by Custom Ink.

“I’ve been a journalist for more than 25 years, but I never thought I would see this — ‘paquetes de retorno'” said Alfredo Corchado, an American journalist in Texas and Mexico and an executive editor at the Puente News Collaborative. On March 26 he told an audience at the Council on Foreign Relations:
[Coyotes] are now offering packages where [migrant] people can go back home …. [If] you want to go home, or you want to go back to Honduras, or maybe you don’t want to go back to Honduras because it’s too dangerous. [Or] you don’t want to go to Guatemala, but maybe you want to go to Costa Rica, and so they’re offering these [smuggling] packages where you can just go back home. Not all of them are taking it, I mean, many [are].

Blue Plea

Why the Democrats probably won't listen to the New York Times:
It seems improbable in the extreme that the Dems will heed the pleas of their leading propaganda arm and drop their obsession with men who think they’re women, open borders, inflationary fiscal policies and galloping authoritarianism, but there are historical precedents. The Democrat Party, whatever else it was, used to be adaptable to circumstances. In 1968, it went down to defeat with presidential candidate Hubert Humphrey, who supported the war in Vietnam. As the war grew increasingly unpopular, the Democrats moved farther to the left (which is always easy for them) and nominated the virulently antiwar, far-left Sen. George McGovern in 1972. When McGovern’s candidacy went down in flames, losing 49 states, the party moved back toward the center by going with southern Democrat Jimmy Carter in 1976. All that, however, was a long, long time ago. Now the party of Andrew Jackson and FDR is in the grip of hardline leftist ideologues who seem to care more about adherence to the far-left line than about electoral viability. All the party’s old ability to adapt has been lost; to change course now would apparently make one a class traitor, or a racist, or a fascist, or whatever the left’s favorite term for those it fears and hates is these days. The Democrats of 2025, in fact, are more rigid and doctrinaire than Mao’s China ever was at the height of the Cultural Revolution. Party apparatchiks believe their nonsense with religious fervor, and are quick to condemn anyone who deviates from the party line as heretics. It’s unlikely, given its long decades of service, that the New York Times will end up being anathematized for its Saturday editorial, but there is no doubt that at least some Democrat party top dogs are enraged over it.

No more affirmative action here:
Vice Adm. Yvette Davids made the policy change Feb. 14, noting "neither race, ethnicity nor sex can be considered as a factor for admission at any point during the admissions process, including qualification and acceptance," according to a court filing by the Department of Justice (DOJ) in the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, which was made public Friday. Trump's Jan. 27 executive order stated "every element of the Armed Forces should operate free from any preference based on race or sex" and directed the secretary of defense to conduct an internal review of the country's service academies. The decision followed a December ruling in federal court allowing the Naval Academy to continue considering race in its admissions process.

First reported on Fox News, the woke HHS grants — presumably Biden-era, though there’s been deep government corruption for decades — included one for over $5 million to study “Harnessing the power of text messaging to reduce HIV incidence in adolescent males across the United States.” A Stanford University study, “Sex hormone effects on neurodevelopment: Controlled puberty in transgender adolescents,” received over $3.6 million from HHS. A whopping 61 grants from HHS subsidiary NIH for California DEI and “gender” studies were also slashed, per Fox. The scale of federal fraud and waste is so vast it is difficult to comprehend. No wonder the Deep State was panicked at the prospect of Donald Trump returning to the White House and at the appointment of Kennedy as HHS secretary.

They Said, USAID

USAID is officially dead:
According to United Press International, the State Department officially told Congress that USAID was dissolving on Friday. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in a statement, "Today, the Department of State and the US Agency for International Development (USAID) have notified Congress on their intent to undertake a reorganization that would involve realigning certain USAID functions to the Department by July 1, 2025, and discontinuing the remaining USAID functions that do not align with Administration priorities." Rubio also noted, "Thanks to President Trump, this misguided and fiscally irresponsible era is now over. We are reorienting our foreign assistance programs to align directly with what is best for the United States and our citizens. We are continuing essential lifesaving programs and making strategic investments that strengthen our partners and our own country. This is yet another promise made and delivered to the American people." USAID was a particular target of spending cuts and efforts from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) after the Trump administration came into office. In a memo that was distributed to USAID employees, the State Department wrote that it "will seek to retire USAID's independent operation" and then see if those employees that were let go will need to be rehired. "This transfer will significantly enhance efficiency, accountability, uniformity, and strategic impact in delivering foreign assistance programs -- allowing our nation and President to speak with one voice in foreign affairs," the memo added, per ABC News. "It will also obviate the need for USAID to continue operating as an independent establishment."

World Trade Disorganization

No more money for them:
The president has long criticized the WTO for what he sees as judicial overreach and systemic bias against the U.S. in trade disputes. Trump previously paralyzed the organization’s top appeals body in 2019 by blocking judicial appointments, rendering the WTO’s core dispute resolution mechanism largely inoperative. But a major sticking point continues to be China’s continued classification as a “developing country” at the WTO — a designation that entitles Beijing to a host of special trade and financial privileges. Despite being the world’s second-largest economy, China receives extended compliance timelines, reduced dues and billions in World Bank loans usually reserved for poorer nations. The Wilson Center, an international affairs-oriented think tank, previously slammed the status as an outdated loophole benefitting an economic superpower at the expense of developed democracies. The Trump administration echoed this criticism behind closed doors during WTO budget meetings in early March, according to Reuters. The U.S. is reportedly not withdrawing from the WTO outright, but the funding freeze is likely to trigger diplomatic and economic groaning. WTO rules allow for punitive measures against non-paying member states, though the body’s weakened legal apparatus may limit enforcement capacity.
Let the groaning begin...

Green Gone

The climate cultists are mad:
It turns out the only thing in danger of melting down in the current environment are leftists. Perhaps the most spectacularly histrionic response came via a Bloomberg opinion piece, which summarized 52 glorious days of President Donald Trump’s orders redirecting where this nation’s resources, monies, and energies should be spent. Every agency with any connection to the climate (meaning basically all of them) has been involved, from the Environmental Protection Agency to the Defense Department. International cooperation by NASA scientists, UN diplomats and more has been forbidden, and Trump appointees are meddling in state and local efforts to manage their own environments. Elon Musk’s crew, intent on dismantling the apparatus of government, has frozen research and funding and put vital expertise on the street. Trump claims his climate demolition will benefit the country. He and his mouthpieces have argued that ignoring climate will lower energy costs for consumers, help the economy and secure “energy dominance” for the US. The authors decry the effort as demolishing years of great work in days. My reply: YEARS OF “CLIMATE CULTISM” DEMOLISHED IN DAYS. Yes!!!! I voted for this.

Forever Woke

Tim Waltz says that the Democrats aren't woke enough, or something:
“Our strength is our diversity,” he said. “We’ve been talking about this for years as a country of immigrants.” ”We let them define the issue on immigration, we let them define the issue on DEI, and we let them define what woke is.” ”We got ourselves in this mess because we weren’t bold enough to say, ‘You’re damn right we’re proud of these policies, we’re going to put them in, and we’re going to execute them.” While some parts of the Democratic Party are beginning to realize that their support for far-left progressive ideology, Walz is clearly not one of them. Nevertheless, Walz intends to carry on his woke crusade over the next few years after recently revealing that he is considering a run for the presidency in 2028. “If I feel I can serve, I will,” Walz said in a recent interview. “And if nationally, people are like, ‘Dude, we tried you, and look how that worked out,’ I’m good with that.” “If I think I could offer something, I would certainly consider that,” he continued.
Please do, and then explain why you stil lost after the next election...

Blue Disaster

Democrats gather to share their blues:
The forum, which was held at Georgetown University, featured questions from Democrats about identity politics and transgender rights in debates that some strategists argued were not keeping in touch with regular voters. "I don’t know if Dems realize how f---ed they are right now as a brand," a Democratic strategist told Politico. "It was a bunch of people politely discussing how many deck chairs on the Titanic should be reserved for transgender people," said another. "The Democratic Party has to assess how the self-styled party of the working class became seen as a party of elites and institutions at a time when so many Americans are enraged at elites and institutions," David Axelrod, a former advisor to President Barack Obama, told Politico. "I mean, what is it that the Democratic Party offers other than being an alternative to Trump? I haven’t seen evidence of that discussion going on." "Over the last decade, the Democratic Party has had a working-class voter problem. It started out as a White working-class voter problem," Rep. Brendan Boyle, D-Pa., said. "And it has, as I’ve long feared, spread. It is not just a White working-class issue. It has now spread to the Latino working class and African American working class."

Movie High

Get stoned at the movies, or something:
“Imagine how much better Barbie or Deadpool & Wolverine would be if you could see it” while smoking a joint, asks Variety rhetorically. “Selling weed could bring fresh revenue and new customers to theaters.” What? Both of those movies were monster hits, the top grossers of their respective years. Who in their right mind believes allowing pot smoking and texting in the theater would have improved their box office? Granted, Variety’s idea is to have exclusive screenings for potheads and texters. Nevertheless, the entire theater will still stink of that crap. Here’s Variety lobbying for texting: “Although cinephiles might object, if movie theaters want to attract younger audiences who refuse to give up their devices during the two-hour running time of most films, they might need to stop banning phones.” If these stupid ideas were coming from some obscure blog, I wouldn’t care. But this is Variety, the so-called Bible of Show Business. Like the rest of the entertainment media, this is just another example of whistling past the graveyard by a publication insulated from Normal People. What’s especially galling is that the answer to the movie attendance problem is right in front of Variety’s face, right there in the sentence quoted above (“Barbie or Deadpool & Wolverine”) and they don’t even see it. Instead of this sentence — “Imagine how much better Barbie or Deadpool & Wolverine would be if you could see it [while smoking a joint]” — how about this sentence: “Imagine how much better theater attendance would be if Hollywood made more movies that appeal to people like Barbie or Deadpool & Wolverine”?
Then you wouldn't have to be stoned...

Green Panic

The climate cult is scared:
I've written a ton about the climate industry churning through tax dollars over the past few years, no more so than the rush to get as much out the door as possible in the remaining months before Trump came in. That these hardcore advocates are melting down only two months into this administration is telling both how effective the Trump efforts have been and how deep the rot went. In my VIP post this afternoon, I used a clip of Maine's Senator Angus King giving Tulsi Gabbard the business because she'd dropped 'climate change' from the list of critical national security threats. He read her the riot act. She patiently explained how she thought there were more immediate things she and her department should be concerned with and spending American tax dollars to ward against first. A day or so ago, we had another vivid reminder of just how lucky we were that November 5 turned out the way it did, courtesy of a painful conversation between two former progressive congress members. Sacked squadders Cori Bush and Jamaal Bowman were reminiscing about their efforts to save Mother Earth and how frustrating it had been to watch the price tag for Biden's initial Build Back Better Act get whittled down to a fraction of what they had initially wanted. They had big plans. Big, BIG plans.

Big Brother wants to control theweb:
Brussels and Washington are once again at odds over Europe’s sweeping social-media restrictions, contained within the 2022 Digital Services Act (DSA). In a letter sent earlier this month, the EU’s vice-president for tech sovereignty, Henna Virkkunen, rejected claims made by Donald Trump’s team that the DSA is a tool for censorship. She insisted that the law ‘does not regulate speech’ and that the EU remains ‘deeply committed to protecting and promoting free speech’. The letter was predominantly in response to US Republican congressman Jim Jordan, who chairs the powerful House Judiciary Committee. Jordan, a long-time critic of the DSA, outlined his concerns to Virkkunen in January, when he warned that the law’s impact on free expression could extend beyond Europe’s borders. Similar attacks have been made by US vice-president JD Vance and X owner Elon Musk. According to Jordan, the DSA could ‘limit or restrict Americans’ constitutionally protected speech in the United States’. He also argued that the law, which compels platforms to mitigate ‘systemic risks’ linked to ‘misleading or deceptive’ speech, will likely incentivise companies to remove even lawful content.

FEMA Finished

No more FEMA:
While providing a report on the border and Coast Guard operations, Noem said, “We’re going to eliminate FEMA.” She didn’t provide more details. “That’s great. Great job,” President Donald Trump said in response to Noem’s remarks during the meeting. Earlier this year, Trump suggested in public remarks that he may dissolve the emergency management agency—or at least overhaul it. “I’ll also be signing an executive order to begin the process of fundamentally reforming and overhauling FEMA, or maybe getting rid of FEMA. I think, frankly, FEMA’s not good,” Trump said in January. He mentioned it again when he visited the aftermath of wildfires in Los Angeles in January, saying: “I say you don’t need FEMA, you need a good state government. FEMA is a very expensive, in my opinion, mostly failed situation.”

Green Slaves

A little slave labor is OK in the UK:
Prime Minsiter Sir Keir Starmer’s government whipped Labour MPs on Tuesday to vote against an amendment to prohibit the publicly owned GB Energy company from buying solar panels where there is “credible evidence” of the use of modern slavery, as is the case in the Communist China controlled area of Xinjiang, alternatively known as East Turkestan. Apparently considering the Net Zero green agenda to be a higher priority than the fate of millions of persecuted Uyghur minorities in China, not a single Labour MP broke with the government to vote for the amendment, which was ultimately voted down by a margin of 314 votes to 198, The Telegraph reported. The government said that rather than instituting a ban on solar panels produced by slaves, they would take some measures to limit the exposure of the British energy infrastructure to such practices, such as potentially creating a role within GB Energy to examine “ethical supply chains and modern slavery”.

Blue Destruction

Death by Democrats:
Aaron Levie, founder and CEO of Box, has joined the chorus of voices condemning the Democratic Party’s mismanagement of California, asserting that the party’s entire political apparatus demands a complete overhaul. Levie, who endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election, made the pointed remarks during an interview with co-founder and former Lattice CEO, Jack Altman. "We live in California. It should be like the greatest place on Earth on every dimension. How do you beat this weather? You've completely created the atmosphere of every major tech company,” Levie explained. You have Stanford, Berkeley, Caltech. You have institutions and all the venture capital. You're sitting on this incredible asset and then literally you can't make it affordable to live here. That's just insane.”

Making Bank

Free speech for the win:
Sources indicate that NatWest agreed to pay Farage damages, while Farage, in turn, withdrew his threats of civil and criminal proceedings against the bank. Farage initially sought millions of pounds, claiming the debanking row severely damaged his reputation. The controversy began when Coutts closed Farage’s accounts, initially citing commercial reasons. However, Farage obtained internal bank documents revealing that his political views significantly influenced the decision. The situation escalated after a BBC News report claimed the closure was purely commercial, based on inaccurate information Dame Alison Rose disclosed to a journalist at a charity dinner in violation of privacy rules.Sir Howard Davies, the bank’s chairman at the time, determined that Dame Alison had to step down despite her public apology to Farage.

Screaming Blues

The yelling hasn't worked:
Co-host Ana Navarro suggested: “People are thirsty, desperate, to hear somebody that gives them fire, that leads them into this fight, that channels their anger and their frustration. They want to hear from those people. That’s why Bernie Sanders and AOC are getting 34,000 people to show up to a rally in Denver. Fifteen thousand people to show up to a rally in Phoenix. I mean, think about this. They are not running. This is not an election year. This is two months into the Trump Administration, and they are getting tens of thousands of people because people want to fight, and they want somebody that will lead them in that fight.” Co-host Sunny Hostin jumped in and said that while many voters indeed want a “fighting opposition party,” the actual policies of Ocasio-Cortez and Sanders would be unpopular. “They want a fighting opposition party and that’s the majority of the country. I think that’s why AOC and Bernie are sort of packing these things,” she said. “What I will say is, I don’t know that the message is correct. I think that their messaging is a little bit off. If you look at what people want and are looking for, because costs and economy is still No. 1 and taxing the rich may not do that for the majority of people. They want to see much more of an action plan. How do you address my pain?” However, Haines argued that the rhetoric is not enough to drag the Democratic Party out of the abyss. “I can see why people like the AOCs, the Bernie Sanders, I can feel myself clapping along, but the problem here is whereas they’re tapping into the anger, I don’t think just screaming and kind of performative, ‘We’re gonna fight’ is the way to go,” she said. “I want absolutely solutions and that’s why I like Sen. Slotkin, who I keep repeating here over and over. She said, ‘I’m a pragmatist,’ and I’m a pragmatist. She is from a purple state. You can’t come at it just like – an AOC comes from a completely blue area, Bernie Sanders, completely blue area. Elissa Slotkin, Trump won her state.” “So when you are dealing with that electorate and a country that’s divided,” she said, “it requires a different school of thought. I love to hear you shout, but I’m much more the person that says, ‘Show me what that got you.’

Locker Talk

Change or else:
The two girls were apparently surprised when they found a male classmate sharing their female-only space, according to an article from the National Review. The school refused to take any action when the parents of the girls complained, and went so far as to tell the girls that they shouldn’t “worry about it.” A gym teacher further noted that any opposition to having a boy inside the girls locker room would be considered “bullying.” When the girls tried to use a private stall, they were forced to wait for one to open-up, and subsequently received tardy notices for being late to their next class. When another girl “attempted to go sit in the general girl’s bathroom outside the locker room during her gym class to avoid the male student watching her change,” she was admonished by a teacher for trying to skip class, NR continued. “I was scared to say the reason I wasn’t going [to gym class was] because [the teacher] kept yelling and saying he was gonna put us on the no pass list so I just said okay and walked in and now I’m scared to move because someone’s gonna catch me,” the girl told her mother at the time via text message.

Polling Problems

Some more bad news for Democrats:
  • More young liberals voted for Donald Trump than young conservatives voted for Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election More than half of young liberals said their views on social issues have shifted “much more” to the Left in recent years Young conservatives say their political views are informed by their own experiences, families, and religion — not being “brainwashed” by prominent influencers online In the wake of the 2024 election, young conservatives are emboldened and more likely than their liberal or independent peers to feel comfortable sharing their views The cost of living, jobs, and the economy remain the top concerns for young Americans

Cow Control

Gavin Newsom has found a new "problem" to tackle:
As part of a subnational climate coalition, the state is moving forward with a satellite data project to track methane emissions. In his first action since being named co-chair of the subnational climate coalition America Is All In, California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced a state effort to cut methane pollution with the help of satellite technology. The technology involves satellite-mounted methane sensors that send data to enable the state to locate and monitor large emissions of methane that could otherwise go undetected. This data will allow state and local agencies to work together with industry to stop the leaks. “Decades of progress to protect public health is on the line as the Trump Administration works to roll back critical environmental protections. California isn’t having it,” Newsom said. “Thanks to our state investment, we’re using satellite technology to detect methane leaks as they happen. With this new data, we’ll be able to move faster to cut harmful methane pollution—protecting Californians and the clean air we’ve fought so hard for.”
