The wind farm woes in Nantucket keep getting worse:

Two weeks ago, Green fever dreams began washing ashore in chunks and shards on the pristine beaches of Nantucket Island after the catastrophic failure of a brand new offshore wind turbine blade. And it was only half of the humongous, football-field-long blade that had shattered and fallen into the ocean. The rest hung forlornly off of the turbine tower like limp fettuccine, hanging on for another day or so until it dropped into the water to become a temporary navigational hazard before eventually settling on the ocean floor beneath the briny deep. A massive section of a damaged 350-foot turbine blade from a wind farm off the coast of Nantucket that detached Thursday morning has sunk to the ocean floor, town officials said Friday. The large piece of fiberglass “will be recovered in due course,” they said. Within a few days, GE did quietly admit that a "manufacturing flaw" in the blade was responsible for the failure. To emphasize how big the impact is, now they have to go check about 150 other already manufactured and installed blades, you know, just in case any of those didn't have enough glue either. A manufacturing flaw led to a turbine blade failure at the Vineyard Wind offshore project off the coast of Massachusetts this month, the part's producer, GE Vernova (GEV.N), opens new tab, said on Wednesday. The turbine blade broke on July 13 and left potentially dangerous debris on beaches on the island of Nantucket. U.S. authorities later ordered a shutdown of the project, which is still under construction. GE Vernova said a preliminary analysis had determined that insufficient bonding led to the breakage, adding its quality assurance program should have identified the issue. Yeah, 'coulda, shoulda' always bites you in the asterisk.

And she’s pledging to keep some of Biden’s promises, including no tax increases on anyone making less than $400,000 a year.

However, animal-based foods like beef, pork and poultry are more efficient and healthy sources of protein. “The truth is that beef, pork, poultry and other animal-based foods are the most efficient and healthy sources of protein. These climate fanatics pushing insect-based foods are scaring people into adopting less healthy diets,” Bruner told The Defender.

Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) revealed that a 27-page guidebook/memo from the 552nd Air Control Wing in Oklahoma was so insanely woke and filled with utter stupidity that you'd have to see it with your own eyes — or not. I'll do a breakdown for you to spare your brain cells. First Lt. Isabelle Allen and Capt. Jacqueline Kingsley wrote the book, and its title page has the following description: ODS [Observations of Discrimination in the Squadron] is an anonymous reporting form that enables you to inform your command team of any microaggression or discrimination that you may face or witness in the squadron. Oh, goody, microaggressions! Who would have thought those were still a thing? Anyway, the first couple of pages are some long-winded stuff about how to eliminate microaggressions, namely by saying that if some histrionic claims to have experienced a "microaggression," the proper response isn't "suck it up; that guy might save your life in the field one day." Instead, the complaint must be affirmed. Discrimination and harassment do exist, but this is the military. Not only are soldiers expected to be resilient (why do you think drill instructors/sergeants are famously angry?), but trading banter within the unit is practically a requirement. To eliminate "microaggressions" in the unit means not "tokenizing" people, according to the guide. By that, they mean: Singling out someone from a marginalized community during discussions on discrimination. Asking a member of a marginalized community to do the emotional labor of correcting discriminatory language/behavior. "As a member of [a marginalized group], please tell me your opinions on this issue (concerning said group).” Asking someone from a marginalized group to educate others on discrimination they experience. Which is it, people? How do you eliminate microaggressions without saying who is experiencing them or without the input of the "victims"? It just gets more brain-meltingly stupid from there.

The fast-food giant's same-store sales fell "for the first time in nearly four years in the second quarter as inflation-weary consumers skipped meals out or chose cheaper options," according to the Los Angeles Times. McDonald’s Chairman, President, and CEO Chris Kempczinski told investors on Monday's quarterly conference call, "Consumers still recognize us as the value leader versus our key competitors, it’s clear that our value leadership gap has recently shrunk." Most tellingly, while foot traffic was down at locations that had been open for at least one year — i.e., there were fewer customers — those who did come spent more because of price hikes. Kempczinski said McDonald's is doing a "comprehensive rethink" of its pricing. Shares were up 3% on the news. A rethink is certainly needed. $5 will now get your kid or grandkid a Happy Meal — on sale — but not too long ago that was the regular price for a Quarter Pounder with Cheese Meal. Morning Consult reported last week that "The labor market is cooling, price pressures are dissipating, and U.S. consumers’ willingness to splurge is looking increasingly tapped out."

The “Cash Not Drugs” program, introduced by Democratic San Francisco Mayor London Breed and San Francisco Board of Supervisors member Matt Dorsey during a press conference, would pay residents $100 a week for taking a negative drug test. Eligible residents must already receive assistance from the County Adult Assistance Program (CAAP), have a substance abuse disorder and volunteer to take weekly drug tests. “I want to make it just as easy to get treatment, as it is to go out there and buy dope,” Breed said during the press conference. The stipend would be supplied in the form of gift cards or electronic benefit transfer, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. It would be funded by Homelessness and Supportive Housing Fund and CAAP Treatment Fund, KTVU FOX 2 reported.

But the taxpayers will still have to clean up after them...

The competing claims set up a high-stakes standoff. "Venezuelans and the entire world know what happened,” González said. The opposition vowed it would defend its votes, but González and his allies asked supporters to remain calm and called on the government to avoid stoking conflict.

California fast-food restaurants have been forced to cut back on employee hours, shut down, or consider moving out of state completely because of Gov. Gavin Newsom's new $20-an-hour minimum wage law, a new study has shown. The Employment Policies Institute survey of nearly 200 fast-food companies found that 89 percent of those eateries polled have already been forced to reduce scheduled hours for their employees, less than a year since it was passed. Some have had to lay off staff completely - a prospect many had warned about when the progressive signed the bill into law in the fall. Others complained that the concerns of small franchisees and their staffers would not be met - something the survey suggests is already occurring as officials continue to bill the law as a success. The study, meanwhile, also found that of those who remain employed, there's been less access to overtime and opportunities for extra shifts, limiting their overall take-home.

Lefty special interests are tearing apart the nation’s economy and profiting massively from political scams like DEI and global warming. None of this is creating actual value. It’s manufacturing a crisis and then making money from solutions to a crisis that does not exist. The crisis, as usual, is the crisis, and the solution is to stop falling for it. Climate Change Dispatch recently highlighted the lopsided nature of climate subsidy benefits:

The majority of the $47 billion in green tax credits claimed between 2006 and 2021 went to high-income households, according to a new study published Monday by the National Bureau of Economic Research… Households in the top 20% of earnings nationally received about 60% of clean energy tax credits, while the bottom 60% of households received just 10%, according to the paper written by Severin Borenstein and Lucas W. Davis, two economists at the University of California, Berkeley… In the case of EVs, the top 20% of earners receive 80% of the credits, while the top 5% of earners receive 50%, according to the study.

And, as Climate Dispatch also noted, this benefit to the top earners has been “relatively constant” even despite a “slight broadening” with 2018 EV credits. Interestingly, there’s reportedly “only a small correlation between greater green tax credits and the adoption of technology such as heat pumps, solar panels, and EVs.” Indeed, in 2023, when the heat pump tax credit increased to 30%, shipments actually decreased! Unfortunately, climate alarmists don’t really care how damaging their ideology is. People like Al Gore can grow insanely rich off spreading climate lies while impoverishing other people. Indeed, those same fat cats like Al Gore and John Kerry have energy-sucking, palatial estates, and gas-powered private jets. You and I are told to do fewer loads of laundry, take no vacations, use public transport, and live in tiny apartments with spotty solar-powered electricity by the only people who financially benefit from the climate lies and subsidies. As the World Economic Forum would say, you will have no property and no privacy — but don’t expect the elites to give up THEIR lifestyles.

So a Swedish company called Tebrito has been working hard to produce mealworms for insect proteins to put in human food like granola and protein bars. They got a whopping $4.2 million in investments to push this stuff. And now they have gone bankrupt because it seems like nobody wants to eat their insects. In 2023 they only had a revenue of a meager $49.000 and losing almost $12.6 million! In other words, nobody is buying their insects. Looks like people are REJECTING the WEF agenda.

California’s Alameda Unified School District’s ethnic studies curriculum required students to assess their own level of privilege as they were taught Critical Race Theory and extreme gender theory. Students were given handouts including “My Relationship with Privilege and Oppression,” which purports to tell students “whether you are privileged or oppressed.” White, male, Christian students without a criminal record are singled out as the epitome of privilege. The document lists 29 different identities and characteristics—including race, ethnicity, nationality, sex, religion and education level—that are used to determine one’s alleged level of privilege or marginalization. “Who am I as an intersectional human being,” it asks students. Another assignment, called “A Map of Myself,” asks students to audit their own identities, categorizing each as a “position of privilege or marginalization.” “For each identity domain … consider if it puts you in a position of privilege or marginalization,” the assignment reads before asking students to list their race, ethnicity, biological sex, sexual orientation, and religion. Footnotes cite “anti-racist” author Robin DiAngelo and argue that “race is a socially constructed system.” “Considering all your social identities listed in the table above, on a daily basis, which ones are you most aware or conscious of?” the assignment inquires before going on to ask what “the most negative or difficult” thing about that identity is.

The Guardian (United Kingdom) ran a headline about how "Desertification is turning the Earth barren," the narrative being that expanding drylands are leaving entire countries "facing famine." It turns out the opposite is true: greenhouse gases are greening the planet as vegetation is growing faster and faster. Yale Environment 360 ran a piece about the world's shriveling deserts, which will only shrivel further in the coming years. Now that we know CO2 is causing plants to grow and spread, the narrative has changed to one of climate change causing the deserts to recede. As such, climate fanatics are launching a new movement to "save" the world's deserts from becoming green, lush and fertile.

Ms. Yellen told reporters at a July 25 press conference during the G20 finance ministers meeting in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, that the United States thinks that a global agreement on taxing ultra-high-net-worth individuals is neither practical nor a particularly good idea. “Tax policy is very difficult to coordinate globally,” Ms. Yellen said. “We don’t see a need or really think it’s desirable to try to negotiate a global agreement on that.” The new global tax on billionaires was proposed by the European Union Tax Observatory last year, and last month, the Brazilian G20 presidency asked its researchers to lay out their proposal in more detail. French economist Gabriel Zucman, an architect of the proposal, has posited that individuals with more than $1 billion in net worth should be required to pay a minimum annual tax amounting to 2 percent of their wealth, according to a baseline version of what he calls an “ultra-high-net-worth tax.”

FBI Director Christopher Wray told the House Judiciary Committee in a hearing that it was not clear precisely what caused the injury to Trump’s ear during the shooting. “With respect to former President Trump, there’s some question about whether or not it’s a bullet or shrapnel that hit his ear,” Wray said in response to a question from House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio).

New research by the Energy Policy Research Foundation (EPRINC), a nonpartisan, not-for profit think tank founded in 1944, finds that the United States' charging infrastructure will have to expand greatly to satisfy projected demand that will arise from all the electric vehicles that automakers will be required to produce under the recently finalized Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) CAFE standards were finalized in June, and they limit the amount of carbon dioxide a vehicle can emit per mile. Together with the Environmental Protection Agency’s tailpipe standards, which were finalized in March, the Biden administration is attempting to pressure automakers to transition their lines to EVs.

Remember the story of Don Quixote? He was a crazy man who decided he was a gallant knight of old. In one part of the novel, Don Quixote attacks windmills because he sees them as threats — it’s where we get the idiom “tilting at windmills.” Nowadays, the windmills are tilting back at the people who think that they’re a great option for energy. And residents of areas near these windmills are fighting mad. “The federal government has ordered an offshore wind developer off Nantucket Island, a popular summer tourist destination in Massachusetts, to suspend operations after parts of a damaged turbine blade washed up on the beaches,” the Associated Press reported last week. Vineyard Wind, the company responsible for the turbines offshore, has cleaned up six truckloads of debris. GE Vernova, which manufactures the turbines, is also assisting in the efforts. Local officials are considering options for dealing with the situation, including legal action. “In response to the ongoing crisis on the island, the Nantucket Select Board will meet in executive session on Tuesday to discuss “potential litigation in connection with Vineyard Wind” regarding recovery costs associated with the blade failure, according to an online meeting notice,” reports Boston.com. Further meetings are taking place. “Representatives from GE and Vineyard Wind will give an update at Wednesday’s regularly scheduled Select Board meeting,” continues the Boston.com report. “The engineering firm Aracadis is also expected to complete an environmental assessment soon, which they will present at the Wednesday meeting.”

The New Jersey Democrat was found guilty on all 16 counts last week, which included charges of extortion, bribery, conspiracy, obstruction of justice, wire fraud, and acting as a foreign agent. The trial lasted nine weeks and the jury deliberated for three days before reaching a verdict.

In 2020, Microsoft pledged to double the number of black leaders in the company by 2025. Undoubtedly, shifting focus away from DEI will hamstring those race-based hiring efforts. Microsoft is not alone. Bloomberg reported that Zoom laid off its DEI staff in February. Meanwhile, Google and Meta made DEI cuts last year, according to CNBC.

BYD USA and its top executive Stella Li have been pouring cash into Democrat organizations and candidates for a decade, The Daily Caller reported. In China, the government practices “civil-military fusion,” where everything in the economic and tech spheres is accessible to the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) military. Just because BYD USA is an American subsidiary, don’t believe for a second it’s not connected to and answerable to the US-hating CCP and its military. Among the BYD beneficiaries are Joe Biden and Gavin Newsom, according to The Daily Caller. Last year, BYD boastfully reported its dedication to the CCP’s influence operation, the Belt and Road Initiative.

For example, BYD and Li gave more than $40,000 to the Democratic National Committee (DNC) between 2020 and 2023, according to the DCNF’s review of political spending records. The company and Li have also poured more than $30,000 into organizations boosting President Joe Biden’s 2024 reelection effort to date. Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom received about $60,000 from Li and BYD USA between 2018 and 2023. Newsom drew scrutiny for his administration’s decision to give BYD a $1 billion no-bid contract to supply protective equipment during the coronavirus pandemic despite the company’s core competency being in a different business, and Newsom subsequently took a BYD vehicle for a publicized test drive during a 2023 trip to mainland China.

Other Democrats who received BYD moolah include former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and former Chair of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Michael Antonovich. The politicians turned an LA municipal clean bus testing program into a financial boon for BYD, Daily Caller explained.

California restaurant staffers are not the first to witness the negative impact of a higher minimum wage. In a popular PragerU video entitled “Minimum Wage Cost Me My Job,” presenter Simone Barron recounts how she quickly regretted supporting a higher minimum wage. Barron considered herself a “fair-minded progressive” who cheered on the Seattle City Council when they raised the minimum wage from $9.47 to $15 an hour back in 2015. As a consequence, the restaurant where she worked closed for good. Barron was quickly able to score an interview at another restaurant, but then that restaurant closed before she could even take the interview. Years ago, New York City’s higher minimum wage pushed the industry into a recession as 75 percent of owners reduced employee hours and 47 percent eliminated jobs. Years later, Sacramento, unfortunately, did not learn from New York’s mistakes. While many “fair-minded progressives” like Simone Barron may think a higher minimum wage is an overall good for workers and society, the reality is starkly different. Its detrimental effects often outweigh any potential benefit.

Ranging from 2016 to 2023, the data shows a 12 percentage point drop in the men aged 18 to 29 who identify with or lean towards the Democrats. In 2016, more than half of young men surveyed said they were Democrats. This figure saw a gradual decline during Donald Trump’s first presidency, rising back up to 47% in the year Joe Biden won the presidential election. However, under Biden, the number of young, male Democrats has fallen substantially by eight percentage points to 39%. Intriguingly, half of this decline occurred between 2022 and 2023.

The operators of the Vineyard Wind project had taken two full days before alerting the townships on the island that said 300+ foot blade had blown itself to smithereens. The project operators did note they'd picked up three large fiberglass pieces out of the ocean nearby and that the blade was still largely "intact," hanging like wet noodles from the turbine. None of this was news to the folks on Nantucket as they had closed their beaches and were already busy trying to corral the volumes of styrofoam and fiberglass washing ashore in sizes huge or small and insidious. The towns are in the nascent planning stages of how to go to war with the wind farm operators and GE, who manufactured the blades.

The first grader was banned from recess and drawing pictures at Viejo Elementary in Orange County after she added the words 'any life' below Black Lives Matter on a picture she drew and and gave to a black friend. The picture showed the words 'Black Lives Matter' with four round shapes in various different tones of brown, beige and yellow, which was intended to 'represent her friends' who were 'racially-mixed'. The girl's family filed a lawsuit last year against the Capistrano Unified School District, claiming her First Amendment Rights were violated during the 2021 incident. But US Central District Court Judge David Carter ruled that 'Students have the right to be free from speech that denigrates their race while at school'. Carter added that the drawing was not protected by the First Amendment because of the age of the girl, named B.B. in the suit, as reported by the San Francisco Chronicle.

Microsoft abandones DEI:

According to IGN, it recently laid off a "key" DEI team, stating that their "role and team were eliminated due to 'changing businesses needs' as of July 1. This sent one of its former employees ranting about how Microsoft no longer sees DEI as important to its business in an email, and as you'll see, the panic isn't just that DEI is dying at Microsoft, but that it's dying everywhere:

"Unofficially in my opinion, not specific to Microsoft alone, but [conservative policy plan] Project 2025 looms and true systems change work associated with DEI programs everywhere are no longer business critical or smart as they were in 2020. Hence the purposeful and strategic 3-5 year shelf life of many company's inclusion commitments post the murder of George Floyd are being reevaluated," the email reads. "And the way I see it, the timing was impeccable so businesses everywhere could reevaluate the path forward should their U.S. federal contracts be at risk if the work continues on its face." The email goes on to praise the work of DEI teams at Microsoft, saying that "impossible mountains were moved" during their tenure and celebrating the "brilliant, ethical, and world class strategists at the company, helping to make the world a better place." However, they also accused executive leadership of "investigated and evidenced discrimination, harassment, and toxicity" directed toward them during their time at the company.

Microsoft spox Jeff Jones stated that Microsoft's DEI commitments "remain unchanged" and that the company's "focus on diversity and inclusion is unwavering," but one can't help but think that this is appeasement talk. Firing off a key DEI team, which is used to guide DEI policy, doesn't just get eliminated without there being a backing away from the practice in some regard.

More bad news for anti-Trump prosecutors:

Government prosecutors informed defendants and the judge overseeing the defendants’ cases that it will drop charges brought under federal law Section 1512(c)(2) in light of the ruling from the nation’s top court, according to a July 15 filing. “This decision was made in order to avoid disruption to the trial schedule for a five-defendant case, and the dismissal eliminates the need for additional litigation as to the sufficiency of the Section 1512 charge as applied to these defendants,” the prosecutors told the judge. Prosecutors in a separate Jan. 6 case said on July 11 that they were dropping the same obstruction charge against defendant Mark Sahady after the judge ordered the government to participate in a briefing on the effects of the Supreme Court decision on his case and rejected a motion from the government for more time to assess the ruling’s impact. “Given the length of time this case has been pending, the specific facts of this case, the other relevant charges, the current trial date, and the need to promote judicial economy and efficiency, the United States requests that Count One be dismissed without prejudice in the interests of justice and that trial proceed on the remaining counts on August 12, 2024,” prosecutors said.

The possible impact of climate change on tornadoes is complicated and still being figured out, but scientists seem to agree tornado patterns are changing (with more tornadoes happening on the same days and more tornadoes happening outside of Tornado Alley, even if the number of tornadoes overall is unchanged). And, in any case, the American Red Cross recent told ABC News that “the climate crisis is forcing the American Red Cross to respond to nearly twice as many large disasters as we did a decade ago.”

The Biden administration has unleashed billions of taxpayer dollars to subsidize the industry in pursuit of its 2030 goal for offshore wind, which envisions offshore wind providing enough electricity to power 10 million American homes at the turn of the decade. However, more offshore wind capacity has been cancelled or postponed as is online or pending, according to data analysis conducted by Ed O’Donnell, a former nuclear engineer who is now a principal at a New Jersey consultancy called Whitestrand Consulting. “There’s no economic rationale for offshore wind as a market-based supplier of power, there are a lot of issues with it, but it won’t survive,” O’Donnell told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “It’s only surviving through subsidies in the form of massive federal tax credits and offshore rate subsidies from the different states and their ratepayers. So, this is why they’re struggling, because those things have economic consequences, and there’s a limit to how much of this can be passed on to taxpayers and ratepayers.”

The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights published the letter Tuesday, arguing the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act – which requires proof of citizenship to register to vote in federal elections – “seeks to intimidate members of immigrant communities and communities of color.” The letter baselessly called the bill, which passed in the House of Representatives Wednesday, “unnecessary and dangerous” and claimed it “seeks to promote fear-mongering and divisive rhetoric.” The letter also claims that concerns about noncitizen voting are unfounded because “federal law already prohibits noncitizens from voting in federal elections.” It doesn’t explain, however, instances in which foreign nationals have slipped onto voter rolls in the United States. “In Virginia, for example, more than 11,000 aliens were initially listed on the state’s voter roll within the past decade,” the Heritage Foundation’s Matthew Tragesser noted Wednesday. “In New Jersey, at least 616 known aliens ended up in the state’s voter registration system just a few years ago.”

Menendez pleaded not guilty to federal charges that he accepted an array of bribes in exchange for helping foreign governments. Jurors deliberated for three days. The judge scheduled the senator's sentencing date for Oct. 29. Menendez condemned the decision in a statement outside the courtroom, so far refusing to resign despite overwhelming calls to do so. His attorneys say they plan to appeal the verdict. "I am deeply disappointed in the decision," Menendez said, claiming that he "never violated a public oath," and that he had "never been a foreign agent." We “speed” because it often reasonable – and not “unsafe” – to drive faster than whatever the speed limit arbitrarily happens to be. Italicized to emphasis the point I’m about to make. For about 20 years – from circa 1974 to circa 1994 – the National Maximum Speed Limit (NMSL) decreed by the federal government was 55 MPH. On the highway. It had previously been much higher than that. Most states had highway speed limits in the 65-70 MPH range. At the stroke of a pen – literally – the maximum legally allowable speed became 55. What had been perfectly legal speed the day prior had become – just like that – illegal “speeding.” This is the very definition of arbitrary.

Three reporters are leaving the now-canceled beat. One was fired, while the other two were reassigned; it’s not clear who they may have been. This is part of a larger 100-person lay-off at the network. Unsurprisingly, the “Race and Equality” desk was set up in the religious fervor surrounding the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis in 2020. You remember—the U.S. went nuts, leftists and Black Lives Matter members burned cities and government buildings. And best of all, CNN itself birthed a meme when its on-camera reporter stood live in front of burning buildings in Kenosha, Wisconsin in the background while describing the protests as “mostly peaceful.” Mainstream media has been left-wing media for decades, of course. But the hard turn to insane left really kicked off with the death of George Floyd, and was further entrenched by the delirium that gripped America over the Covid-19 virus. Reporting became all-race, all the time, with white people and conservatives blamed for, well, everything, all the time. Though it’s not like their non-DEI news desks are much better – don’t forget their coverage of the attempted Donald Trump assassination only days ago, which they attempted to portray Trump being rushed off stage after falling at a rally. It looks like CNN is belatedly learning what Bud Light learned when its value tanked after teaming up with a drag queen pretending to be woman. And just last month, rural farm supply chain Tractor Supply reversed course and vowed to stop donating to and working with leftist social justice organizations after customers complained.

Another win for Trump:

Trump had faced charges stemming from special counsel Jack Smith's investigation into his possession of classified materials at Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence. He pleaded not guilty to all 37 felony counts from Smith’s probe, including willful retention of national defense information, conspiracy to obstruct justice and false statements. "Former President Trump’s Motion to Dismiss Indictment Based on the Unlawful Appointment and Funding of Special Counsel Jack Smith is GRANTED in accordance with this Order," U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon wrote in a Monday ruling. "The Superseding Indictment is DISMISSED because Special Counsel Smith’s appointment violates the Appointments Clause of the United States Constitution." Trump, following the ruling, told Fox News' Bret Baier – the anchor and executive editor of ‘Special Report with Bret Baier’ – that he was "thrilled that a judge had the courage and wisdom to do this. This has big, big implications, not just for this case but for other cases.

College isn't for everyone:

32% of respondents said they have some confidence in higher education, and another 32% said they had very little or no faith in such institutions at all. The pollsters reported that confidence in higher education has fallen among all subgroups of the U.S. population over the past two decades, but the sharpest decline this year was among Republicans. Nine years ago, 56% of Republicans had a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in higher education, but today, the share has plummeted to 20%. But GOP voters aren't alone. Confidence among independents has fallen from 48% to 35% since 2015, and among Democrats, it has dropped from 68% down to 56%.

College is no longer what it was cracked up to be...

They want the rhetoric toned down for only one reason: to avoid accountability—their own accountability and Joe Biden’s accountability for recently telling his donors to put a “bullseye” on Trump and for declaring Trump a “dictator” on the same night as the assassination attempt. The media (and Democrats) must be held accountable for a decade of assassination dog whistles. When you launch a dehumanization campaign backed by billions of corporate dollars against one man in a country of some 350 million people, you are knowingly targeting that man for assassination. After all… Is it not a moral imperative to assassinate the next Adolf Hitler, to assassinate the man who will end democracy as we know it, to assassinate a fascist who will ensure this is America’s final presidential election? Of course, it is. But never mind that Trump is none of those things… The media thinking is this: We can’t defeat him politically, we failed to imprison him, so let’s call him a “unique threat” to incite someone to shoot him and then, after the shooting, let’s blame the victim and then try to shame Orange Hitler’s MAGAHitlerTard followers into silence.

Results show that white liberal women aged 18-29 were the most likely to have been diagnosed with a mental health condition with 56.3% of respondents answering ‘yes’ in response to the question. This dropped to 27.3% when 18-29-year-old conservative women were questioned. Trends show a decrease among all political affiliations in older age groups, with the exception being white moderate women aged 30-49 (32.8%) compared to the 18-29-year-olds of the same political viewpoint (28.4%). White conservatives over 65 were around ten percentage points lower than their liberal counterparts, with only 4.5% of conservative men aged 65 and over answering ‘yes’.

Updates to the Spanish mission, which was the site of the historic Battle of the Alamo in 1836 during Texas' fight for independence from Mexico, will include a new 100,000-square-foot visitor center and museum, a 4D theater, as well as a rooftop restaurant, which is being built across the street, the Washington Post reported. The budget is mostly allocated by the Republican-controlled state legislature. The Post's headline read, "Remember the Alamo? Rehab of battle site is latest front in culture war." Because the attraction is a source of Texas pride, Republican Jerry E. Patterson, who served as Texas Land commissioner from 2003 to 2015, told the Washington Post that if the new museum focuses too much on slavery, it could put off visitors. "If we make it a museum about all the bad things and whatever, nobody’s going to go there," he said.

But some social media users were disappointed by Perry's inclusion of a glittery uterus as one of the images seen on the video, saying it was 'painfully cissexist' and exclusionary of trans women. One enraged X user wrote: 'Not only is the song pure sh**, but the video going "omg let's show a uterus, bc that's what women are!" is so painfully cissexist and evidence this bi*** is NOT in community with queers.' Cisgender, often shortened to cis, is the term used by some in the transgender community and their allies to refer to people who are not transgender. Another added: 'by saying "it’s a woman’s world" with a uterus it may send a message that only women have uteri and you’re not a woman if you don’t have one... Women are not defined by such things.'

First, coral is not a single organism. Coral is a curious critter. Coral is a symbiotic partnership between an animal from the Anthozoa group and a microbial alga called Symbiodinium. The microbial algae use photosynthesis to create sugar, and the Anthozoa polyps feed off the sugar. Here’s a description from the USGS. Next, modern-type warm-water shallow coral reefs have been around for about half a billion years … so obviously, they must be resistant to temperature changes, including the large temperature swings in the transitions between the glacial periods and the interglacial times such as the current Holocene. Next, “bleaching”. Bleaching is the natural response of coral to excessively warm or excessively cool temperatures. Or to pollution. Or to siltation. Or to toxic chemicals. Or to the death of the parrotfish or other grazers that keep the coral from being overgrown by other plants. When the symbiotic relationship comes under pressure due to any of those stressors, the algae may leave the coral’s tissue. And if the stress is due to pollution, siltation, or the lack of parrotfish, then the reef may But if the bleaching is from unusual temperatures, the reef doesn’t usually die. Instead, something entirely different happens. The usual outcome of bleaching due to temperature change is that after the algae die and are expelled by the coral, a different strain of algae that is adapted to the new temperature takes up residence in the bleached coral skeleton.

The discount grocery store chain Aldi is planning to sell edible insect recipe kits for families who are struggling to buy real meat. The company says the move will help consumers meet the daily protein needs of families amid soaring food prices. In recent years, globalists such as the World Economic Forum (WEF) and Bill Gates have been promoting bugs such as crickets as a cheap and sustainable form of protein. Aldi is currently investigating which insect-based products it could stock as a replacement for meat. The company is planning to stock products by Yum Bug, which manufactures insect recipe kits.

“Everyone who is a scientist hopes that we don’t have to do this research,” said Douglas MacAyeal, a professor of geophysical sciences and co-author of the paper. “But we also know that if we don’t think about it, we could be missing an opportunity to help the world in the future.” The white paper emerged out of two conferences held on geoengineering—deliberate interventions to alter the planet’s climate—at Chicago and Stanford University. The conferences were organized by the newly formed Climate Systems Engineering initiative at UChicago, which “seeks to understand the benefits, risks, and governance of technologies that might reduce the impacts of accumulated greenhouse gases,” according to a press release. The scientists at the conferences advocated for two major types of geoengineering to be investigated. The first type consists of “curtains” moored on the seabed to prevent warm water from undermining ice shelves. The biggest threat to ice sheets is not warm air, but warm water, The second type involves attempts to reduce the flow of meltwater streams that run off ice sheets. This could be achieved, for example, by drilling deep into glaciers, either to drain water from the glacier bed and prevent it from affecting the glacier, or to try and freeze the glacier bed artificially. The report notes that both approaches are totally untested and their advantages and disadvantages, including potentially environmental disruption, are unclear.

Elected Dems: Massive pressure is building from rank-and-file members of the Democratic caucus. One Democratic senator (Peter Welch of Vermont) and 17 House Democrats have publicly called for Biden to drop out. Scores more are furious at the White House for pushing them to support a president they view as unelectable. Swing-seat Dems: This is the group that really matters. Vulnerable Democrats have a clear-eyed view of the president's prospects. These Dems will abandon him — some already have — if they sense their seats are in jeopardy. Democrats are now crying crocodile tears, bemoaning the violence and pretending they had nothing to do with it. “Violence has NO place in our democracy. My thoughts are with President Trump and everyone impacted at the rally today," said California Governor Gavin Newsom. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said, "My thoughts and prayers are with former President Trump. I am thankful for the decisive law enforcement response. America is a democracy. Political violence of any kind is never acceptable." "Donald “Dictator on ‘Day One’” Trump Is an Existential Threat To Our Democracy," headlines the DNC Warroom. For years, Republicans have been told their rhetoric leads to violence. Sarah Palin put a bullseye on the congressional district of Rep. Gabby Giffords. The "crosshairs" were not placed on Giffords. They were placed on her district on a map. After Giffords was shot by a mentally unstable person, Democrats blamed Palin for the attack. School shootings, mass casualty events, and almost any act of violence have been traced by Democrats to Republican "violent" political rhetoric. Now, the Democrats are going to blame the violence of January 6 as a reason for the assault on Trump.

Trump was addressing his supporters when shots were heard, and everyone hit the ground; bedlam, chaos, and terror ensued. Trump was injured in the attack; his ear grazed, and his face was bloody. Trump was undeterred, raising his fist to assure the crowd. Associated Press reported that Trump was blessedly “fine” after this attack. The media reaction, however, was atrocious. The Washington Post said Trump was carried away “after loud noises at rally.” CNN never even mentioned the gunfire in their headline. And while the AP said Trump was fine, which is well, their headline was garbage: “Donald Trump has been escorted off the stage by Secret Service during a rally after loud noises ring out in the crowd.”

It's not as if they had any sympathy for him in the first place...

Culture Creatures

When appropriation isn't what they say it is:

activists insist that cultural appropriation can only go in one direction, i.e. by the dominant culture against "oppressed" cultures. And by that, they mean white people against minorities. They have no objection to white culture being appropriated, as it has been for centuries, around the globe. The aforementioned Helligar, who raged at Dumbo's caricatured black voices, doesn't object to the same movie's caricatured Italian voice in Timothy Q. Mouse, or the caricatured uneducated poor white voices in the circus clowns. The activists' argument, such as it is, is designed to make white people lose in either situation. If white people admire and adapt an aspect of minority culture, they're guilty of "appropriation." If white people dislike and resist aspects of minority culture, they're guilty of "xenophobia" and "white supremacy." Per leftist dogma, the whites must be the oppressors in every situation, and minorities must be the helpless victims.

Carville's Complaint

James Carville is getting desperate:

Carville is under the impression that pretty much anyone on the Democrats' bench could "beat the pants off Mr. Trump," even though most polls show these replacements performing no better than Biden — and mostly worse. Carville doesn't seem to have an accurate pulse reading of the situation. "I’m not worried about our talent. We have a staggeringly talented new generation of leaders," he said. Polls suggest otherwise. Trump's position improves when pitted against all the likely alternatives, when the same man most voters think isn't capable of handling the presidency is doing better than the back-ups, that's a problem. "I’m not worried about the money. Americans will be fired up by this open process, and many are already fired up to beat Mr. Trump," Carville continued. Again, voters are used to knowing who their candidate is by the time summer rolls around, so an extended pseudo-primary is likely to be divisive, not unifying. "I’m not worried about time. We have excitement and momentum on our side," Carvile insisted. No, you don't. We're less than four months from Election Day, and the time for this to have taken place has long passed. "And our opponent?" Carville asked. "The one born with a platinum spoon but no moral compass? The pathological liar? The felon? The predator found liable for sexual abuse? The wannabe dictator? The Putin lickspittle? I’m not worried about him, either." You should be. Voters have already concluded that the lawsuits and criminal trials against Trump were politically motivated and rejected the scare tactics warning about the end of our democracy. Lord knows the whole Putin thing has gotten so old and overused; do voters even listen to that garbage anymore? Donald Trump was headed to victory before the debate. Carville is lying to himself and Democratic voters because if Trump has proven anything this cycle, it's that he's resilient and the Democrats' efforts to destroy him haven't worked.

But people like him are still trying...

Five Democrats joined Republicans to pass the bill with 221 votes—Reps. Henry Cuellar (D-TX), Vicente Gonzalez (D-TX), Jared Golden (D-ME), Don Davis (D-NC) and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (D-WA)—but 198 Democrats opposed the measure. “Today, 198 House Democrats voted against preventing illegal aliens from voting in American elections,” Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) said in a statement. “Over the past four years, Joe Biden has welcomed millions upon millions of illegals into the country knowing that noncitizens only have to check a box to vote in a federal election. “We have long known this was an intentional effort to turn them into voters, and now the American people know where every member of Congress stands on this critically important issue,” he added. “House Republicans believe that only Americans should vote in American elections. House Democrats have now proven they believe that illegal aliens should vote in American elections.”

One of those goals is to reach “net-zero” operating emissions in the next ten years, the racing organization said in its press release: While NASCAR is committed to the historic role of the combustion engine in racing, it is also committed to decarbonizing its operations and reducing its own carbon footprint to zero across its core operations by 2035 through electrification and innovative solutions. “There could not be a more optimal moment in time to announce our first Impact partner than in tandem with the debut of the ABB NASCAR EV Prototype at the Chicago Street Race,” said NASCAR Senior Vice President and Chief Impact Officer Eric Nyquist. “ABB is an industry leader and will help in efforts to decarbonize our operations as we pursue achieving net-zero operating emissions over the next decade.” NASCAR added: The All-Wheel Drive car has a generic Crossover Utility Vehicle (CUV) body made of sustainable flax-based composite. It shares many similarities with both the Next Gen and Garage 56 cars – the body sits on a modified Next Gen chassis, and the steering, suspension, brakes, and wheels all derive from the NASCAR Cup Series car. Many fans, though, were not all that interested in NASCAR going electric and did not support the organization’s X post announcing the prototype racer. “The day this hits the track I’m done,” one X user said in disgust.

“No other state has suffered more climate-related damage over the past several decades than the Lone Star State,” Gongloff writes, fallout from “Texas’ aggressive pro-global-warming policies.” The writer goes on to make the unfalsifiable assertion that while climate change may not have caused Hurricane Beryl, “it certainly made it more powerful and destructive,” before acknowledging that a growing La Nina phenomenon in the Pacific might also have something to do with it. “Beryl is just the start of what will be an unusually busy hurricane season,” he prophesies, warning that “climate change makes each event more likely to go to 11.” Government leaders in Texas have “dedicated most of their energy to not only denying the reality of climate change but fighting efforts to address it,” he asserts, and “have passed laws keeping state money out of investment funds that they claim ‘boycott’ fossil fuels.”

Sounds like there's more hot air from alarmists than there is in Texas...
